Researcher, composer and guitarist, Carlos Daniel Santos-Burgoa
lives in Mexico City, and is and active musician, performing and composing. He is also founder of Metamusika company, for research and development of techonologies for music.
He begins his classical guitar studies at age twelve under the tutorial of Luis Robert and Master Manuel Lopez Ramos in México City. At and early age he won 3rd place at the Juvenile national classical guitar competition in Paracho and 2nd place at the “Yólotl” national classical guitar competition. Influenced by many world renown guitarists such as John Holmquist, Ron Pearl, Nat Gunod, Nicolas Goluses, David Tanenbaum, Alfredo Sánchez, he has developed his own technique and expresive style. He has also studied baroque lute with William Carter in Poland, (Warsawa).
His projection as a guitarist runs parallel to his activity as a composer; he obtained a degree in compositional techniques with form Trinity College in the year 2004, and studied as well with Mexican composer Victor Rasgado, and has since then composed for guitar as well as many works for different types of ensembles, as well as music for short film. His main works center around themes like fantasy, myth and mental archtypes; as in Hangakvaedi Havamala based on ancient Skandinavian texts of the poetic Eddas depicting the myth of Odin and the runes, El bardo, a string sextet with percusion musically describing the tibbetan idea of the path between life and death. His career as a guitarist and composer has taken him to perform concerts in different places in Mexico, as well as to appear in the radio, tv, and other media and recently released his first record titled “Fantasía Guitarrística”.
For the last 3 years he has been director of a research project under the support of the national counsel for culture and arts, and the Mexican Foundation for innovation and transference of technology, for the creation of mathematical models for music analysis and composition, as well as a creation of a music software for composing and analyzing music. His works are written in a book titled “mathematical fundaments of the theory of pitches in music” and other articles. He is also a private guitar and music theory teacher.
Now he is the founder of Metamusika, a new company for research and development of music technology.

As an artist, I am an active profesional guitar player and composer. My works are mostly for modern concert guitar although I also have works for ensembles, short film, and others.
